April Showers Brings May Flowers

The trend predictions for summer point to the floral dress as remaining one of the must-have items for the fun loving fatshionista. Take two of the hottest fashion trends, floral prints and sundresses, and put them together for the season's most exciting look. Floral dresses are both pretty and feminine, so unleash your girly girl in this sassy style. Finding stylish dresses that fit well can be difficult if you’re plus size because you don’t want a “loud” pattern that makes you appear even bigger.  Floral maxi dresses are a great selection for any occasion, from weddings to beach wear and lunch with the girls. Try wearing a floral dress with gladiator sandals and simple hoop earrings for a laid back summer look that’s totally on trend.

I’m still looking for that perfect floral party dress that stands out, but also flatters my body without bringing extra attention to mid-section. You can go super glam in a satin or chiffon material with a pastel floral print or edgy and bold with a body con floral print dress. Keep your accessories to a minimum to prevent competing with your dress.

As the temperatures rise, the airy floral sundress is the perfect piece. Pick ones made of chiffon, taffeta, organza, and other sheer fabrics to keep cool in scorching hot temperatures. Details such as buttons, ruffles, one sleeve, and embroidery add a special touch.

I absolutely love the high-low dresses that I’ve seen online and several stores. I like the analogy to a mullet – “sassy in the front, classy in the back.” Along with their unique hemline, these dresses are also very versatile. For a simple day outing you can match them with a cute pair of strappy flat sandals, and maybe add a denim vest to the look. However, they can also be worn to parties with a pair of heels, bold bangles, and a statement clutch.

The floor sweeping maxi will forever be a classic. The history of floral maxi dress dates back to the 70s when wearing floral print was a big style statement. The trend of these floral prints became a hit when that period’s conventional “flower children” wore them. No matter your height, a floor length maxi has to be in your wardrobe for this summer.

While some ladies opt for airy maxi dresses others will definitely want to show more of their bodies and trendy minis. Every girl must have a short floral frock in her closet.

Keep these tips in mind when buying your flirty floral dress for this summer.
