Why Settle for Catfish When You Can Have Caviar?

The title of my blog post is my favorite line from Gossip Girl and should be the tagline for a new club my homegirl, Robbie, opened in Charlotte - Caviar. Robbie operates Jane Doe marketing, so she knows a thing or two about nightlife. (She's photoed below in the white dress) The space was the old Club Ice, but was gutted and renovated! The grand opening party was Friday, so of course I had to be in attendance. I went with my favorite girls, Crystal and Samora, and met up with my other favorite, Alexis. The decor of the venue was super chic, sleek, and ultra sexy. It was one big room full of bad, well dressed chicks and guys! Fashion was everywhere. Gucci, Louboutin, leather, lace, body con dresses, YSL, Louis, oh my! It was refreshing to be around a mature and well groomed crowd. I met a lot of people that I've seen on Twitter and it was so much love.

Here are a few that the camera man snapped of me and the girls. I had such an amazing time!

Blue Them Away

I was excited to receive my dress from 17 Sundays over the weekend so quickly considering it was shipped from Australia! I sat in my car and carefully opened the package. The packaging was so pretty that I was afraid to rip the monogrammed tissue paper. The dress was such a vibrant blue and the material was super soft. I stumbled upon 17 Sundays website sometime last year and loved their flirty, pieces. The fab crew there sent me the Blue Them Away Beach Dress, which I wore to class yesterday. I received a lot of compliments from my classmates. I was told blue is my color. I love the looseness of the garment and the deep draped pockets. The only downside is that the viscose material gets extra wrinkly after sitting down. It hits right above the knee, so it's still appropriate for the classroom or the club scene. I paired it with my favorite fishnet patterned tights and combat boots from Torrid. It was such a nice day yesterday, so I threw on my faux leather motorcycle jacket that I bought from Target a few years ago.

Instragammin' It Out

Hi ladies (and gents)! I forgot to tell you all that I finally got an iPhone at the end of December. I absolutely love my phone except I wish it had 4G speed. I fell in love with this app called Instagram. If you have Instagram follow me: ohsoprettymia. I am getting my second degree in English with a concentration in creative writing, so I am back in the classroom setting, which is so strange to me. I'm 23 years old in a class with way younger students. However, I love the change of scenery and being able to get dolled up again. Yesterday I wore a khaki ASOS Curve dress that Stefanee swapped with me for my Nine West mary-janes. I tucked it in to make it a blouse.

Dress: ASOS Curve - Leggings: Torrid - Shoes: Dexter for Payless - Bag: Louis Vuitton

Here's another photo taken from my Instagram. I used PicStitch for the layout (like the above photo). This is one of my old favorite lip colors from MAC called "To Pamper." It's a grayish taupe nude color.

Fatshionista Files: Noel

This month’s Fatshionista Files features Noel, a blonde bombshell hailing from Houston. She caught my eye on Twitter and I immediately fell in love with her bold, glamorous, and risk-taking style. This 24-year-old curvy cutie works for MAC, so she knows a few things about a beat face. I love Noel’s fearless fashion and fierce shoe game.

Describe your personal style.
I would say my personal style is edgy-glam! I'm not afraid of fashion, but I know what works for me. I always say if Carrie Bradshaw and Rihanna had a baby it would be me!

Where do you shop?
The question is where don't I shop. Some of my favs are ASOS, Forever 21, Macy's, I could go on for days.

What does being a fatshionista mean to you?
Being a fatshionista means having even more of a reason to make sure I'm fabulous every time I step out because it's not expected for plus size girls to be fashionable!

What's your advice to plus-size girls?
Know your body. If you like it don’t be concerned about what everyone else will think about you and your clothing, if you like it and it’s suitable for your body and your curves don't be afraid!

Where do you draw fashion inspiration?
I draw my fashion inspiration from different aspects of my life, my moods, the season or my surroundings! I learned fashion very early as a little girl from my mother. I can sit and think in my mind about an outfit and it would be something no one would understand. As a makeup artist my mind is always thinking of something new and different.

What's your best beauty secret?
Highlighting and bronzing. Every girl could stand to have a lift in the cheekbones and a good contour always does the trick and makes the face look slimmer.

What do you feel the most sexiest in?
Six inch heels. It’s just something about them!

What's your favorite piece in your wardrobe?
That’s such a difficult question because I try not to show favoritism.

Trend you absolutely love this winter?
One trend I love this season is bold bright colors incorporated into fall. I love this trend because when you think of fall you typically think of dark hues, but this season pops of color have been incorporated into this seasons trends and I love it! It’s nice to see something different!

NYE 2011

I hope all of my readers had a fabulous Christmas and New Years! I hope Santa brought you fabulous ladies everything from your wishlists and I hope your New Years Eve was full of fun, dancing, and memories to last forever! I can't believe that is 2012! Where did 2011 go? I want to thank each and every one of you for supporting Diary of a Fatshionista, Shop Mia's Closet, and Belle Boss Jewelry. A new year means bigger and better things. I will be doing a lot of renovations, updating, and more posts. What are some topics you'd like to see on Diary of a Fatshionista?

I went to Atlanta for New Years Eve and stayed at my friend Marcus' fabulous condo in Marietta! It's super chic! I had tons of fun - Lennox, Pappadeaux, Cultute Club New Year's Eve party, and more! Remember the dress I ordered from Forever 21+ during Cyber Monday? Well, I finally pulled it out of the closet for NYE. I had my eyes set on this SL Fashions gold sequin dress, but I ended up being so nervous of the fit. So I stuck with my "backup dress." I got so caught up in the hype about a sequin dress, that I forgot it's all about having fun and bringing in the New Year with your friends.
