Another Night With the Boss

The biggest event to hit the city of Greensboro (besides North Carolina A&T's homecoming) was Super Jam, was last night. I went to go see .... who else ... Rick Ross at Rio. I'm quite obsessed considering I've seen him twice in less than a week's span, but I love the boy. I ordered a white peplum dress from Fashion to Figure since it was yet another white party. I ordered a dress from FTF two years ago and was disappointed that the sizing was small, but this dress fit me like a glove. I'll be buying from them again in the near future. I had an amazing night as I watched the love of my life perform. It made my life when he reached out and touched my hand.

All White For The Boss

You all know how much I love and adore Rick Ross. It was only right that I went to see him over the weekend at Club 935 in Charlotte for the annual white party and Rick Ross' album release party. Finding something white to wear so last minute was so stressful because I didn't want to have on the same outfit as another girl. It was so hard finding a sexy, chic, fashionable white dress that wasn't a sundress or immature looking. I had to get creative and visit some non-plus stores, like Forever 21 and Charlotte Russe. I found this white scuba suit material dress with mess and a daring low cut at Charlotte Russe. I was so skeptical of the fit because it was a size large. Taking my finding into the fitting room, I was so shocked that the dress fit, but because of my height it was more like a shirt. I wore the "shirt" with a simple black body-con skirt and my silver Nine West platforms.

Fatshionista Files: Brittany Coleman

With a mean shoe collection to envy and effortless girly style, Brittany from Pockets & Bows was the perfect girl to feature this month. This 24-year-old southern belle from Tennessee, knows a thing or two (or three) about style. Brittany's fearless personal style combines high and low pieces to create glamorous looks that are right on trend.

Describe your personal style.
I would describe my personal style as classic with a trendy twist. Oh and I can't leave the house without a mean shoe!

Where do you shop?
I shop EVERYWHERE. Right now I'm loving Zara, H&M, and ASOS the most. I'm stalking that website like everyday.

What does being a fatshionista mean to you?
A fatshionista is someone who has established their own style and non-wavering. Someone who can wear just about anything with confidence and gets the fashion wheels turning in everyone's head.

What's your advice to other plus size girls?
My advice to my fellow plus size ladies is to wear, walk, and wow with confidence! Many plus size ladies feel that they can't get away with certain styles or trends for fear that others will look down on them, but you can make anything work for you and also make it look tasteful. Remember, confidence is convincing.

Where do you draw fashion inspiration?
I get fashion inspiration from Fashion Shows, Blogs, and Street Style.

What's your best beauty secret?
My best beauty secret is water. Believe it or not, just plain ol' H20 is the best moisture agent, inside and out.

What’s the story behind the name of your blog?
My blog name came about in 2009 at a time where I was obsessed with anything with pockets or bows, so my best friend told me that I should call my blog that, and the rest is history.

What's your favorite piece in your wardrobe?
My favorite piece in my wardrobe would have to be my Zara color block sandals. I wear them with everything.

What's a trend you predict this summer?
This summer will be all about the classic bare sandal! (Similar to my Zara color block heels). Celebrities have already caught and it's slowly making its way on to feet of the everyday woman.

My 24th Birthday Weekend

I celebrated my 24th birthday last weekend and it was the best one yet. Surrounded by my gorgeous girls and homeboys, I partied Thursday through Saturday. I had two amazing parties over the weekend - Friday at Lotus Lounge in Greensboro and at Club 935 in Charlotte. Friday night I wore my leopard ASOS dress, which I had to get tailored because I ordered a UK 26, which was like 2 sizes too big. I have learned my lesson with ordering UK sizes. I could've ordered a UK 18 and it would've fit perfect. Even after the alterations, it was a tad too big after putting on my Spanx. I love this dress and felt super sexy and bold in it. A MAC red lip and beachy hair made the look complete. Had a ball with all of my friends sitting pretty.

Saturday was my party at Club 935 with one of my favorite rappers Future. I ordered the Monif C Whitley dress, which ended up being too small. I didn't know what type of material it was and assumed it was the same as my Emma dress. Boy was I wrong! Luckily, I packed a black sheer shirt and borrowed one of my BFF's, Crystal, body con skirts. I ended up loving my chic and simplistic outfit. I let the accessories and shoes steal the spotlight. I had the best birthday ever and will continue celebrating the rest of the month. After all, Geminis rule!
