Strapped Up

ASOS Fall Favorites
(Click the photo to get prices of your fav)
From ankle straps to Mary Janes to t-strap pumps, footwear is getting a fun update. Straps add another element to the shoe which amps the sexiness. Whether you’re keeping your look flirty and fun or you’re dressing more conservative, straps definitely add a fresh update to your ensemble. I recommend pairing these types of heels with a skirt or a dress, so the style can be the focal point. ASOS has tons to chose from, but I chose my absolute favorites for this season. The bowlegged heel trend is so hot and it adds such a fun touch to heels. For those who aren't a fan of the high heel and need more support, chunky heels are definitely more comfortable and yet sexy. Replicating many popular designers, such as Christian Louboutin and Yves Saint Lauren, ASOS stays on trend with hot styles. The nude t-straps reminds me of a YSL Tribute Too and the pointy toe gray heel mocks the Christian Louboutin "Unbout" rocked by Beyonce and LaLa Anthony. My favorite is the wine peeptoe chunky wedge with the thin ankle strap, which adds a dainty detail. I am a lover of peeptoes and these would look great paired with some patterned tights. I'm all about keeping my fatshionistas on trend and their wallets full.

A Night At The Disco

I wore these electric blue disco leggings in my Labor Day post, but I had to style them a different way. I originally wanted to debut my leggings with a vertical striped sheer shirt. I still haven't found the top, but I recently purchased a vertical striped turtleneck dress off eBay. The dress was more like a shirt on me, so I wore it as a top last Thursday. I'm a dress and skirt kind of girl, so I was in love with how comfortable and stylish this look was. I felt like a 80s singer with my metallic platforms, red lips, and feathered hair.

Fatshionista Files: Honor Curves

Canadian blonde bombshell, Honor, caught my eye on Instagram last month. I was in love with her statuesque, curvy figure and her rocker style. Honor is 6'1, so any tall girl like myself has my heart. Her unique style is effortless and she sure knows how to dress her size 14 frame. The more I browsed (and double tapped) her photos, the more I knew was a perfect fit for Diary of a Fatshionista. Honor must secretly own stock in ASOS or be a rising ASOS Curve model, either way she's definitely a fatshionista.

Describe your personal style.
Kelly Bundy-inspired. Leather lover, bodycon obsessed, a fan of all things spandex and lace, and usually caught in an off the shoulder or backless piece.

Explain your Instagram name.
My Instagram name is Honor Curves. It is a play on my first name which is Honorine and then the Curves is pretty self-explanatory. My tagline on my Instagram is: "Own your curves, accept yourself, never apologize for your beauty." I believe "Honor Curves" encompasses that. When we honor ourselves I think wonderful things happen. All women are beautiful, and curves are one of those special things that women have that make us special.

Where do you shop?
ASOS/ASOS Curve, Black Milk Clothing, American Apparel, Aritzia, Rue 107, Blu Blush, Envy ATL, Tikedi.

What does being a fatshionista mean to you?
Being a fatshionista means embracing my curves and finding outfits that make MY heart sing. It also means sharing tips together with other girls who want to dress fashionably/sexy/chic and feel beautiful in their clothes. I love to inspire and be inspired by others in the fatshionista community.

What is your advice to other plus size girls?
My advice to other plus size girls is OWN IT. You are beautiful. Self love radiates out and it has to start inside. Life is too short to not wear what you want or feel beautiful. Each one of us is unique and special and curves are truly beautiful. Confidence will get you everywhere in life. Don't be afraid to let your light shine, my curvy pals.

Where do you draw fashion inspiration?
I draw a lot of my fashion inspiration from other curvy girls/bloggers/Instagrammers. One woman in particular has truly inspired me and that is Nadia Aboulhosn. I don't think I fully embraced my place in fashion until I saw her ease in dressing in whatever she wants and how GORGEOUS she looks doing it. She is a huge inspiration to me and I recommend her blog to anyone who needs a curvy fashion boost.

What's your best beauty secret?
Pink lipstick, Biotherm skincare, and a whole lot of bodycon and leather keep me feeling beautiful all the time. I believe that keeping a tube of "Pink Vibrations" lipstick by Elizabeth Arden can provide a beauty boost at any time of day.

What's your favorite piece in your wardrobe?
My favorite piece in my wardrobe is a Wilfred leather jacket I bought at Aritzia in 2007. We are going to be in our 7th year together in 2013 and this jacket is still my best buddy. It was a bit of an investment piece at roughly $500.00, but I truly believe it's worth it. Every woman should have one amazing leather biker jacket.

What's a trend you foresee this fall?
Studs and leather are already everywhere and they are continuing to be everywhere. I think curvy women should invest in peplum, this is one beautiful style on curvy women. Lastly, get yourself into some army looks: cargo pants or dark khaki greens. Super hot!

Fashion Bombshell of the Day

I forgot to tell you all I finally submitted my photos to the infamous Fashion Bomb Daily feature Fashion Bombshell of the Day. I've always wanted to be featured and I kept putting it off. Last Sunday, I was extremely bored at 4am and said "Why not?" I wake up the next day to tweets congratulating me on my feature. My heart was racing so fast because I wanted to see it myself. Fashion Bomb is known for the harsh comments from the readers, which I didn't really care about. A lot of the comments I received were about "dressing my size" and Spanx. Spanx are not magic, but they do suck you in. It won't eliminate all your rolls, just give you a more smooth look. Overall, I was pleased with my feature and wanted to shed light on discerning fatshionistas. More mainstream media and blogs need to highlight plus size women and I was happy to contribute my part.

If you haven't read my feature yet, please do and leave comments! Love you all for your support.

The Timberland Trend

With fall creeping in quicker than expected, it's time to add staples to our closets. Whatever you dub them -Timbs, Timbos, wheats, butters, constructs - are a definite must-have this season. The classic appeal and simplistic design of these boots have been in rotation since the 90s. This trend was made even more popular by Jay-Z and Kanye and now is a hot commodity seen on the likes of some of my favorite fashionistas Emily B, Teyana Taylor, and Rihanna. I love these boots because they allow for so much creativity in styling. Get you a pair of Timberlands and add an edgy, tomboy flair to your outfit. I plan on purchasing a pair for my alumni homecoming next month. My head is spinning with possible outfits.
How are you going to style yours?

Fall Favorites: ASOS Curve Dresses

With fall approaching, it's time to select some new dresses for your wardrobes ladies. ASOS Curve is always on trend and affordable for the discerning fatshionista on a budget. I've selected my fall favorites and I plan on adding a few of these beauties to my closet.

Sequins add the perfect touch of glamor and dressiness. This dress can be worn for New Year's eve, a wedding, or a night out with the girls. Want to dress it down? Add a leather jacket for edginess or even colorful Doc Martens for a casual rocker lock.
ASOS CURVE Skater Dress In Sequin And Lace
$82.78

The chain print is a revisited trend inspired by Versace in my favorite era - the 80s. I love this royal blue body con dress with the bold gold chain pattern. This dress will go perfect with a red lip, a high bun, or big Kim K curls. Keep the shoes and accessories simple to let the dress be the focal point.
ASOS CURVE Body-Conscious Dress In Chain Print
$48.29

A lover of fashion must also love art. The baroque style has influenced many designers. This style is characterized by great drama, rich, deep color, and intense light and dark shadows. This simple tank dress features a gold baroque pattern on the front, which adds just enough. To transition into fall pair this dress with a cropped leather jacket and opaque black tights.
ASOS CURVE Exclusive Tank Dress With Gold Foil Print
$34.49

Whoever said patterns weren't for plus size women lied! I am in love with this aqua body-conscious fit midi dress. The swirl print design is whimsical and very flirty. This dress is definitely getting added to my closet for the fall. Although, the fall is about darker, romantic colors, I still need a touch of color to liven up my wardrobe.
ASOS CURVE Exclusive Body-Conscious Dress In Swirl Print
$43.12

This is by far a show stopper dress. Chiffon sleeves with embellished cuffs is just the right amount of glitz and glamor. This dress has a scoop back to show off a little more skin. This can be another New Years Eve option or any other special occasion. A high or low sleek ponytail and bold earrings would compliment this piece quite well.

ASOS CURVE Exclusive Dress With Embellished Cuff
$77.61
**Remember that ASOS Curve runs about two sizes larger than US sizes. I wear a 22, but have had to order a US 14 in the stretch body con dresses. You can always get your pieces altered for a custom fit.**

Labor Day in the A

I spent my labor day in Atlanta with my best friend Crystal. This was a true last minute trip and of course those are always the best! After checking into our hotel in Marietta, we got dolled up to go to Lenox Mall for some last minute finds. I wore my American Apparel-esque leggings from Forever 21+, Mia lace-up sandals, and a thrifted army jacket turned into a vest. The vest was given to me from a friend, but I know you all can find one at your local army store.

Later that night, we headed to The Loft downtown Atlanta to dance and unwind. I wore a green peplum dress courtesy of My Empiricist. I am in love with the peplum trend and it's great for girls who don't have any junk in the trunk like myself. It adds an illusion of hips and booty .The dress was the perfect fit and was very comfortable. I paired it with my Enzo Anglioni snakeskin peeptoes, simple gold hoops, and a Morange MAC lip. Ladies, you can save 15% at My Empiricist using promo code "MIA15"! Follow them on Facebook for more updates about their trendy stylish options for women with curvy physiques.

Our last night in Atlanta consisted of the lunch, the infamous Piedmont Park, and another night of clubbing. A beat face and a casual outfit was the look for a hot day in the sun. I wore my favorite white ballerina top from Old Navy and a high-low skirt from Forever 21+. We enjoyed lunch at Cheesecake Factory at the Cumberland Mall and then dashed in the mall at the closing hour for last minute items. The park was so fun and I ran into some of my closest buds at the park. To end the night, we partied at Aja. I finally got to wear my gorgeous "Kelley Ann" dress gifted by Ivie Rose Boutique. I love the mesh cut-out panels on the side and the dragonfly wing layers on the side. Again, this is something great for ladies who don't have hips or a large derriere. This dress is only $25 this week only, so add this sexy piece to your wardrobe. As a true lover of all things glitz and glam, I wore some sparkly earrings and a bold statement ring. I played up my brown eyes with a metallic teal cream Sephora eyeliner pencil and a nude MAC Viva Glam II lip.
